Tentacles long, club suckers numerous, round in larvae but laterally compressed in juveniles and adults; skin papillae with cartilaginous tubercles (at least in juveniles), neither adjoining nor overlapping; fins rhomboidal or heart-shaped, reaching mantle end; tail needle short or absent.
