[General] Variously formed covering or coat, commonly a cornet-shaped structure.

[Radiolaria Polycystina] In Nassellaria and Spumellaria: usually thin, delicate, lace-like meshwork surrounding the main shell which appears in some fully grown polycystines.

[Pteropoda] Extension of the body wall that secretes the shell and lines most of the shell (absent in Gymnosomata).

[Cephalopoda] The fleshy muscular, tubular, or sac-like body of cephalopods; contraction provides propulsion through jet-like expulsion of water, as well as respiration; contains the viscera (Ce 1E, Ce 1V).
