Amphistaurus lanceolatus

(Haeckel, 1887)

Two main spicules compressed, lanceolate, two-edged, gradually tapering from broader middle towards two ends; apex simple; base a large pyramid, with broad leaf-cross. Eighteen smaller spicules about half as long, pyramidal, with simple conical or bristle-shaped apex. Central capsule lentelliptical, pink, opaque. Length of 2 major spicules: 0.2 mm, of 18 secondary: 0.1 mm.
