Diagnosis: Central capsule bubble-shaped, spherical, with well-developed operculum. Central capsule wall of two membranes, showing a fine pleated folding. Inconspicuous skeleton an irregular meshwork of silica needles, funnel-shaped, at the oral pole of the central capsule. Differs from Halocella gemma mainly in its larger size and more conspicuous operculum. Also similar to Cornucella maya, with which it may be conspecific.

Diameter: about 1 mm.
