Body slender, smooth (Stenopleura atlantica 1). Rostrum medium, thin. Anteroventral margin of head not produced. Eyes reniform. All coxae short, CX I sharply produced anteriorly. ANT I slightly longer than or equal to ANT II. Accessory flagellum absent. Mandibular molar columnar, triturative, ART 3 of mandibular palp almost as long as ART 2. Inner plate of MX II not broader than outer plate. Lower lip with inner lobes. P I and II (gnathopods) not of eusirid form (Stenopleura atlantica 2), subchelate, with large posterior lobe on ART 5; ART 5 and 6 together not elongate but ART 5 much shorter than 6; ART 6 not bent; dactyl subequal to ART 6. P III-VII elongate. Epimeral plate III smooth. Exopodites of UR I-II shorter than endopodites. Telson entire, apically toothed (Stenopleura atlantica 3). Purely pelagic genus.
