The Harpacticoida are defined by their podoplean tagmosis, the presence of short A1 with at most 9 segments in females and 14 in males, the fusion of the Enp and Basis into baseoendopod on P5 of both sexes of most species, those with a separate Enp having a maximum of 2 setae on it (Huys et al., 1996).
