The subfamily Euconchoecinae consists of two genera, Euconchoecia and Bathyconchoecia.
Euconchoecia, the only halocyprid genus in which the female broods eggs and juveniles within the carapace, has about 20 terminal setae on the first antennae. Only a single representative occurs in the South Atlantic,
¥ Euconchoecia chierchiae Müller, 1891 (Euconchoecia chierchiae, Euconchoecia chierchiae 2).
Bathyconchoecia species have curtains of ca. 200 setae on the first antennae and lack a frontal organ (with one exception). No species of this genus have yet been reported from the South Atlantic but they are likely to occur there either in the bathypelagic zone or in very deep water.
