Colony globular or ovate (Pyrosoma ovatum), of tough consistency, with numerous very long, strongly acanthous, blunt-ended processes (Pyrosoma ovatum 1). Size up to 5 cm by 5 cm. Zooids distributed randomly, with the general appearance of Pyrosoma atlanticum, but with quite short cloacal siphons and, in individuals extending into the test processes, very long oral siphons, up to 20 mm long.
