Pyrosoma aherniosum

Seeliger, 1895

Colony small (sexually mature at 2 cm) and transparent, with only a small number of regular rows of zooids (Pyrosoma aherniosum). Colony shape determined by robust and bluntly truncate processes. Zooids with the general appearance of Pyrosoma atlanticum, but with very broad, large oral siphons (as wide as the branchial basket), and a very short cloacal siphon (Pyrosoma aherniosum 1, Pyrosoma aherniosum 2).
