Length to 85 mm. Head with 13-15 marginal denticles on each side, 4-7 pairs of ventral denticles (Cystisoma pellucida 1). MD with only one central denticle. Posterodistal process of ART 5 of P II strongly serrate (Cystisoma pellucida 2). Spines on CX I and II especially long, sharp. Distal parts of ART 6 of P III-VII glandular in adult females. Urosoma combined with UR longer than pleon. Poorly described Cystisoma neptunus Guérin-Méneville, 1842, mentioned in many older publications, may be senior synonym of this species.
