Lanceola pacifica

Stebbing, 1888

Length 22-38 mm (females), 26-34 mm (males). Rostrum absent. Eyes large, kidney-like. Body without carina. 3 distal (small) ART of ANT I free, cylindrical; apical setae short in ANT I. P VI much longer than V. Hooded dactyls of P V-VII thin, curved (Lanceola pacifica 2). Telson pointed, with rounded top, slightly longer than basipodite of UR III (Lanceola pacifica 1). In deep-water Lanceola pacifica, two morphological forms are known (typica and robusta), probably associated symbiotically with "weak" medusae and "muscular" siphonophores (Woltereck, 1909).
