Length about 5 mm. Mandibular incisor smooth, narrow, almost straight. In Atlantic specimens, ART 4 of maxillipedal palp described as vestigial, but in Antarctic specimens this ART normal, dactyl-like. Coxal plate I only slightly widened distally. In P I and II (gnathopods) ART 5 equal to ART 6; ART 6 of P II twice as long as wide (Scopelocheiropsis abyssalis 2). ART 5 of P III and IV without anterodistal process; ART 6 longer than ART 4 and 5 combined (Scopelocheiropsis abyssalis 3); P sub-prehensile. ART 2 of P V more or less slender.
