Paracyphocaris praedator

Length to 11 mm (Paracyphocaris praedator 1). ANT slender. ART 4 of peduncle of ANT II shorter than ART 5. Mandibular palp 3-articulated, shorter than body of MD (Paracyphocaris praedator 2). Inner plate of MX I with 3 strong pinnate setae. Both ART 5 and 6 of P I about twice as long as wide. ART 2 of P V-VII with rounded posterodistal lobes. Posteroventral corner of epimeral plate III blunt. Endopodite of UR III shorter than ART 1 of exopodite. Telson 2 times as long as broad, deeply cleft. Live animals red (no colour loss in alcohol), with large drops of oil inside of pereon. Animals may act as parasites of large pelagic crustaceans. For example, Paracyphocaris praedator can feed upon eggs of shrimp marsupium (see Bowman and Wasmer, 1984).
