Disc up to 1.5 m. Similar to Desmonema chierchianum, but tentacles per octant up to only ca. 20, typically ca. 2 to ca. 10, broad, flattish-oval in cross-section, up to ca. 10 times as wide as deep; inserted in a single line (not in a field extending radially).
Coloration: differences from Desmonema chierchianum, if any, not well documented. Ground color white, white with dark spots, dark centre with light margin and dark spots, or uniformly dark brownish or purple, or maroon-violet.
