Pelagia noctiluca

Diameter to ca. 12 cm, bell square-hemispherical with numerous conspicuous, in some specimens or populations elongate, stinging warts; marginal tentacles 16; mouth arms to about 5 times bell height, simply frilled, also with numerous warts.
Coloration somewhat varied: ground color of bell transparent to milky, warts red/magenta to brown and giving color to bell; mouth-arms and marginal tentacles colorless or red/magenta to brown.
Sting painful, severe.
