Clausophyes galeata

Lens and van Riemsdijk, 1908

Large, robust anterior nectophore whose mouth plate is partially divided. Deep hydroecium extending to over half the height of the nectophore, with thickened walls, and a large, central protuberance, where the posterior nectophore attaches. Thick somatocyst, irregularly expanded. Large, robust posterior nectophore, with relatively complicated arrangement of lateral radial canals on nectosac. The most characteristic feature is the presence of a pair of finger-like projections from the walls of the hydroecium, close to its apex.
