Athorybia rosacea

(Forskal, 1775)

Large, red pigmented pneumatophore, with cormidia arranged in a spiral around it. No nectosome. Elongate, flimsy bracts with 7 inconspicuous rows of nematocysts running down the convex dorsal side. A very distinctive species. The bracts can be moved in a rhythmic manner, probably enabling the animal to swim about.
