Diagnosis: Spheroidal or ellipsoidal shell, with short tubular peristome on oral pole, with 3 slender, equally spaced, slightly divergent oral spines on peristomal rim. One or two large triangular pores in broad base of each oral spine. Four to six equally spaced, long, aboral spines, as ring around peristome, curved toward aboral hemisphere, with 3-4 elliptical pores surrounding base. Oral and aboral spines with numerous curved thorns throughout length.

Length: 1.15-1.46 mm.

Two subspecies described by Haecker (1908) have been reported from the South Atlantic: Tuscaretta globosa atlantica (larger, thick-walled, spheroidal, Tuscaretta globosa atlantica), and Tuscaretta globosa chuni (smaller, cap-shaped, with compressed oral-aboral axis, Tuscaretta globosa chuni, Tuscaretta globosa chuni 2). Latter possibly Antarctic endemic.
