Aulosphaera verticillata

Haeckel

Diagnosis: Shell spheroidal with regular triangular mesh openings. Radial tubes slender, straight, distally tapered, about as long as tangential bars, each with 6-12 whorls of 3 or 4 curved simple lateral spines without spathillae.
Haecker (1908) differentiated a larger Antarctic form with few whorls of lateral spines (Aulosphaera verticillata 2) that has been reported also by Peters (1929) and Tibbs (1969) from Antarctic localities.

Diameter: 1.5-2.5 mm.
