Diploconus cylindrus

Central shell small, pitted, without sutural furrows. Cornets very long, cylindro-conical, encasing up to 3/4 of main spicules, distal parts 1.5 times wider than the proximal ones, with many (>15) longitudinal wavy ribs, 6 of which are more conspicuous than others. On distal edge of cornet ribs extend into spines. Main spicules 6-edged, their free ends pyramidal, tips sharp. Eighteen secondary spicules of equal length, needle-like. Length of main spicules: 0.16 mm; secondary: 0.05 mm; diameter of central shell: 0.04 mm; length of cornets: 0.11 mm.
