Bars arising from sagittal, basal and frontal rings define large, very regular, polygonal pores. Skeletal bars and spines sharply 3-bladed. Breadth of shell: ca 150 µm. Goll (1976) erected the subspecies Lophospyris pentagona hyperborea (Jorgensen) (not figured), which differs from L. p. pentagona by the absence of tribladed lattice bars on the lateral surfaces of the shell.
