Dysteria brasiliensis

Body elongate triangular, posteriorly tapering and with distinct spur-like protrusion dorsally. Laterally distinctly flattened, left and right plates equally sized. Stylus on posterior ventral side. Two contractile vacuoles, ventral in anterior and posterior 1/3 of cell. Five right field kineties. Left equatorial field composed of 7-8 short rows of basal bodies, 1 external right equatorial kinety extending over about 1/3 of body length. Preoral kinety before left frontal field kineties. Movement slowly crawling, often resting. Size in vivo 100-150 x 30-60 µm.
