Angelfish larvae develop small spines on body surface from early stages (Leis and Rennis, 1983). Centropyge argi larvae with deep and laterally compressed body (Centropyge argi). Many melanophores scattered over trunk and tail region. Supra-orbital crest of 2.8 mm larva with three spines, opercle with five long spines. Spine at corner of pre-opercle elongates in post-flexion stage. Mouth large and oblique. Many tiny canine teeth present on maxilla (Richards, 1990).
