Familia Dictyacanthidae

Schewiakoff, 1926

Skeleton of 20 spicules of same length and same shape, with latticed plates which link with each other to form latticed shell. Cell body spherical, surrounded by thick capsular wall, with several nuclei, pigments, and zooxanthellae. Ectoplasm limited by thick periplasmic cortex with radial and concentric elastic junctions, suspended from spicules by 50 thread-like myonemes.
