Cyclosalpa bakeri

Ritter, 1905

Solitary zooids: up to 47 mm long (Cyclosalpa bakeri, Cyclosalpa bakeri 1). Body muscles interrupted dorsally and ventrally. Dorsally, MVI extending forward to the level of MIII, forming two parallel longitudinal muscles. Total number of muscular fibers: 90-145. Five pairs of light organs between MI and MVI and one small pair before MI. Dorsal tubercle G-shaped.

Aggregate zooids: up to 26 mm long (Cyclosalpa bakeri 2). Body muscles asymmetrical (there are dextral and sinistral individuals like mirror images). In the mid-ventral line, a longitudinal muscle extending forward from MIV to the peduncle. MIV also producing a visceral muscle, extending posteriorly into the intestinal loop. Dorsal tubercle C-shaped. Intestine swelling outwards the body wall, with one caecum lying on the right ventral side. Blood-forming organ elongate, behind the caecum, and protruding into one of the two posterior test projections. Testis long, lying behind the intestine on the left dorsal side, protruding into the second posterior projection of the test.
