Trunk compact, up to 2.3 mm long (Oikopleurinae-trunk). Buccal glands spherical and fairly large. Gonads adjoining the coil of the gut, protruding dorsally and tapering toward the posterior end when ripe. Tail with one spindle-shaped subchordal cell, musculature narrow (Oikopleurinae).
