Trunk compact, up to 1.3 mm long (Oikopleura dioica). Buccal glands spherical and small. Dioecious. Testis or ovary adjoining the coil of the gut hemispherically. Tail with 2 spindle-shaped subchordal cells arranged in a line, musculature narrow.
