Diphyes chamissonis

Huxley, 1859

Anterior nectophore is blunt apically. Nectosac with rounded apex lying a short distance from that of the nectophore. Hydroecium extends to mid-height of nectophore; with relatively short spindle-shaped somatocyst extending above it. Ostial teeth of equal size. Mouth plate not divided. Posterior nectophore not developed; eudoxid not found in area.
Like Chelophyes contorta, this is largely a neritic Indo-Pacific species and has only been found off South Africa due to the intrusions of water from the Agulhas Current.
