Tetralonche quadrata

(Haeckel, 1887)

Four main, equatorial spicules slightly compressed, almost cylindrical in basal half; broader, lanceolate in distal half, with simple apex. Eight tropical spicules a little shorter, but only half as broad, sword-shaped, two-edged, of equal breadth, with simple apex. Eight polar spicules very short, conical, also with simple apex. Length of 4 equatorial spicules: 0.18 mm, of 8 tropical spicules: 0.14 mm, of 8 polar spicules: 0.04 mm.
