(Schröder, 1906)
Jankowski, 1978
Body thick, disc-like. Apical tentacles thick, distally slightly knob-like, encircle anterior area in continuous multi-rowed wreath. Macronucleus horseshoe-shaped, ramified. Lorica cup-shaped, ca. 130 x 140 µm, or about 50 x 50 µm (Biernacka, 1963). Stalk 14-20 µm thick and short, >200 µm (Schröder, 1906), or 60 µm (Biernacka, 1963). Polygemmic, forming 1-3 apparently internal buds. Body 150-200 µm across. Swarmer slenderly ellipsoidal, ciliated end of body tapering; size 90-100 by about 30 µm. Epibiotic on copepods. Redescription needed. There are controversies concerning the reproduction of this genus, viz. exogenous or endogenous budding (e.g., Corliss, 1979; Schröder, 1906). Its systematic position is thus uncertain.
