Non-spinose, low trochospiral, closely related to Globorotalia menardii, yet higher- and thicker-shelled than latter. Last two chambers often twisted. Keel, lip and aperture prominent (as in Globorotalia menardii). Both species may produce thick calcite crust.

Distribution: Its distribution is similar to that of Globorotalia menardii, but it is less abundant.
