Borgert, 1894
Known oozooids with alimentary canal U-shaped. In both phorozooids and gonozooids, alimentary canal forming an upright U- or an S-shaped loop in the sagittal plane. Larval stage is known only in Doliolina muelleri. The oozooid and gastrozooid stages are known in Doliolina muelleri and Doliolina intermedia.
Garstang (1933) recognized three species in the Atlantic Ocean: Doliolina intermedia (= Doliolina resistibile Neumann, 1913); Doliolina muelleri (= Doliolina krohni in Borgert, 1894; but not in Herdman, 1888), and Doliolina sigmoides (= Doliolina krohni in Neumann, 1906). Doliolina krohni, described by Herdman (1888) from the South Pacific, has not been recorded from the South Atlantic Ocean. Doliolina indica (Neumann, 1906) from the Indian Ocean is probably a synonym of Doliolina krohni (Herdman, 1888). Doliolina krohni (cf. Borgert, 1894) is considered a variety of Doliolina muelleri.
