Diagnosis
Phaeodaria with large spherical (or sometimes polyhedral or pyriform), very delicate shell, of solid, very thin and long bars. Nodal points of the web-like network fused, without astral septa. Mesh openings large, triangular. Shell surface usually with radial spines and often with pyramidal elevations. The structures resemble architectural shapes known as geodesic domes.
