Colony entirely smooth of finger-like, oval or oblong habit, often flattened (Pyrosomella verticillata). Size up to 5 cm long and 3 cm in diameter. Colonial wall transparent, colourless and soft. Ascidiozooids with very short oral siphon and short cloacal siphon, never exceeding one third the length of the branchial basket (Pyrosomella verticillata 1).
