Approximately 400 species of pelagic amphipod species are known worldwide. This chapter covers the 200 species that are recorded from the South Atlantic Ocean.

Identification
South Atlantic amphipods can be identified to genus in the section of the key that begins at Page 1405: Amphipoda. Further identification to species must be done by comparing species diagnoses.
