Familia Neoscopelidae


Larvae have laterally compressed, deep body. Head large, jaws with strong, sharp teeth. Eyes small, round. In Scopelengys tristis (Moser, 1996c) pectoral fins large, fanshaped, formed early in pre-flexion stages. Oval patch of melanophores on peritoneum.
