Genus Stegosoma

Chun, 1888

Trunk up to 4.0 mm long, elongate, laterally compressed (Stegosoma magnum). Mouth terminal. Buccal glands spherical and small (Stegosoma magnum 2). Spiracles small and round, at both sides of the rectum. Esophagus short. Left part of the stomach suspended from the middle part of the digestive tract. Right part of the stomach reduced to a duct connected to intestine. Intestine long and tubular. Gonads adjoining the coil of the gut, extending laterally when ripe. Tail with about 8 bladder-like subchordal cells arranged in a line, musculature rather narrow.
