Genus Althoffia

Lohmann, 1896

Trunk up to 1.8 mm long, depressed dorso-ventrally. Mouth small, terminal. Buccal glands absent (Althoffia tumida 2). Spiracles circular and small, lateral, far behind the short endostyle. Esophagus tubular, entering the stomach at the right side (Althoffia tumida). Stomach flattened dorso-ventrally. Intestine arising from the left fore part of the stomach (Althoffia tumida 3). Gonads valve-shaped, parallel to the wall of the trunk, extending orally toward the spiracles when ripe. Tail long, with numerous amphichordal cells near its distal end, musculature broad (Althoffia tumida 4).

Remark
The genera Althoffia and Pelagopleura are grouped together under the supergenus Alabiata Fenaux, 1993.
