Genus Cranocephalus

Bovallius, 1890

Body compact, elongate to globular, often calcareous, with weak rounded transverse carinas (Cranocephalus scleroticus 1). Head shorter than pereon, produced into large pointed rostrum. Coxae fused with pereonites. P I subchelate, P II weakly chelate. P V-VII with broad ART 2 with row of 3-4 pit-like glands on each. P VII with full number of ART. Fused urosomite (II+III) very slightly longer than wide, fused with telson. UR III shorter than, or subequal to, telson.

Monotypic.
