Familia Phrosinidae

Small to medium-large animals (5-30 mm). Body fairly compact, head large, globular, sometimes with outgrowth and carina. Eyes occupying practically all head surface. Pereonites all separate, or pereonites I and II fused. Coxae free. P I and II simple, others may be simple or subchelate, especially P V which is always longest, with large subchela. P VII more or less reduced. UR transformed, parts completely fused, or reduced, animals have only one petal-like ramus instead of each "normal" UR.
