Genus Themisto

Guérin, 1825

Medium-large animals. All pereonites free (Themisto gaudichaudi 1). Body somewhat compressed laterally, slender in both sexes. Coxae free. Head large, globular, without rostrum or lateral lobes. ANT I with 3-articulated peduncle. MD with palp in both sexes. P I simple. P II chelate, with spoon-shaped distal process of ART 5. P III and IV longer than I and II but shorter than V-VII. P III-V subchelate; P III and IV with ART 5 and 6 shorter than ART 2, in P V that ART longer, than ART 2. Posterior margin of ART 5 in P III and IV, anterior margins of ART 5 and 6 of P V with strong spines.

Seven species, one in South Atlantic.
