Genus Lestrigonus

Milne-Edwards, 1830

Small animals (< 3.5 mm). Pereonites I-II to I-IV fused in males (Lestrigonus schizogeneios 1), I-III to I-V fused in females (Lestrigonus bengalensis 1, Lestrigonus latissimus 2, Lestrigonus crucipes 1). Body globular in females, slender in males. Coxae fused with pereonites. Head globular, without lateral lobes and rostrum. ANT I 2-articulated in female. ANT II of female 1-articulated, strongly reduced. Gland cone conspicuous, with rounded or pointed apex. MD with dentate incisor, with palp in male, none in female. MXP inner lobe well-developed (Lestrigonus crucipes 2, Lestrigonus latissimus 1). P I weakly chelate, distal process of ART 5 only slightly developed. P II chelate, distal process of ART 5 thick, spoon-shaped, with strong spines along margin of spoon. P III-VII simple.
