Classification of the Hyperiidea is treated variously by different authors (see Bowman and Gruner, 1973; Vinogradov et al., 1982). In this volume we follow Vinogradov et al. (1982). Family and genus keys are modified from Bowman and Gruner (1973) and Vinogradov et al. (1982), species keys from Vinogradov et al. (1982), with a few exceptions mentioned below. Family and genus diagnoses are modified partly from the same authors.
