Medusa: umbrella typically flatter than a hemisphere, with margin cleft into lappets; tentacles (if present) hollow, peripheral or on subumbrella; mouth opening single, lips 4, typically with 4 large mouth-arms surrounding. Polypoid stage: a polydisk scyphistoma.
