Marginal cirri absent or greatly reduced in number; transverse and frontoventral cirri often tremendously developed and very conspicuous. Adoral zone of membranelles also prominent, usually extending over more than half of body length. Intercirral tracts of microtubules, kinetodesmata reported. Many species, widely distributed, predominantly marine.
