Musculature usually forming complete circular bands surrounding the body (9 bands in oozooids and nurses, 8 bands in phorozooids and gonozooids). Pharyngeal cavity large, occupying the anterior half of the body or more, with gill-slits in its posterior part (gill-septum). Peripharyngeal cavity mainly posterior to the pharyngeal cavity. Alimentary canal ventral, at the posterior end of the pharyngeal sac. In gonozooids, ovary and testis ventral, near the intestine.
