Bate, 1862
Small to medium-large animals (2-24 mm). Very similar to Parascelidae, but the ventral margin of the head (which, due to its particular position, looks as the anterior margin) produced into a median round-triangular process; mouth parts in form of broad, short cylinder; MD short, with broad incisor; P VII much smaller than others, with narrow curved boomerang-like (rarely almost straight) ART 2, sometimes one or a few rudimentary distal ART. Telson fused with II+III urosomite, except in genus Amphithyrus, where telson is free.
Five genera:
Genus Amphithyrus Claus, 1879
Genus Hemityphis Claus, 1879
Genus Paratyphis Claus, 1879
Genus Platyscelus Bate, 1861
Genus Tetrathyrus Claus, 1879
These animals can conglobate in emergencies as the family Parascelidae.
