Small animals (5-10 mm). Body fairly compact. Head globular, shorter than pereon (sometimes slightly). Eyes large, occupying most of head surface. ANT II in female rudimentary or absent. MD with palp in male, without in female. Maxillae I and II reduced, rarely very strongly reduced, or completely absent. P I simple or subchelate, P II subchelate or chelate, with smooth or weakly serrate margin of ART 5. P V longer than VI. P VI with distal ART attached to ART 2 terminally. P VII with full number of ART. Endopodites and basipodites of UR all free to all fused. Telson fused with II+III urosomite.
