Genus Brachyscelus

Bate, 1861

Body compact, moderately slender. Head may be slightly pointed in males (Brachyscelus rapax 1), rounded in females. P I-VI without numerous setae. P I-II with serrate chela (Brachyscelus crusculum 1, Brachyscelus crusculum 2). ART 2 of P VI equal or only slightly shorter than other distal ART combined (Brachyscelus globiceps 2, Brachyscelus rapax 4). UR I with subequal rami. UR III slightly longer than telson. Telson pointed to rounded (Brachyscelus crusculum 3, Brachyscelus globiceps 3, Brachyscelus rapax 2).
