[Cubo-/Scyphomedusae] A medusa of the subclass Scyphomedusae which comprises mainly the majority of large medusae such as most of those seen at the coast. They and the subclass Stauromedusae or stalked jellies, small, stalked, mobile but sedentary forms, comprise the class Scyphozoa. There are three orders, Coronatae, Semaeostom(e)ae and Rhizostom(e)ae. See also Medusozoa, Cubozoa.
